Now I'm looking forward to a couple of fun days of hunting and relaxing before I come home. This has truly been one of the most incredible adventures of my life and I can't wait to get home and share it with everyone!!
Today was our last day of ministry and it was a very fitting end to an incredible journey. We spent the morning hunting (I saw nothing) and then after lunch we got things ready for the youth rally. Lots of the kids that we saw at the schools came. They started showing up around 2:00 and we played games, hung out, and just tried to get to know them a little bit. Just a side note, I ruled the ping pong table... At 6:00 dinner was served to all the kids and then at 7:00 we had the windiest outdoor worship service ever. It was my job to speak the sermon and I think It went really well.

Today was another busy day... We went to a school in Mocapani which isn't very far from where we are staying. This school had Muslim as well as christian leadership. It is considered a multi cultural/multi religious school. We couldn't speak openly about Christ but we did our part to plant seeds to establish Centershot as a long term fixture. Everything went really well! One of the Muslim board members came out and started shooting. He liked it so much that he started seriously talking to us about purchasing the equipment to start a club there. Please pray that God will use this ministry to reach kids for Christ!!!
I went on a hunt this evening but all I saw was a squirrel. For a minute I thought I was back in S. Georgia... This evening we did our planning for the youth rally tomorrow evening where I will be delivering the message. Please pray that lives will be touched and changed. Well it's been another amazing day!! This morning we got to sleep in and didn't have to be at breakfast until 5:15. Wahoo!!! We went to a very rural school in who knows where and for me it was the best yet. I spoke in front of about 900 students with the gospel message and it was just an amazing experience. I've been told that when you go to Africa you'll never be the same and I'm starting to see why. The students at the school today were very poor but they didn't seem to care. They were all smiling and gobbled up every ounce of attention we could give them. They love taking pictures and being in selfies. I spent most of the day leading the bible study and teaching. I still can't get my mind around the fact that we can speak so openly about the gospel in the public schools here. This afternoon I got to go on a hunt and although I didn't get to shoot anything with my bow, I shot a beautiful Kudu with my camera. It was an amazing day and I can't wait till tomorrow!!
It's been another amazing day!! We got up at 3:45 to head out to a school about 2 hours away. I did their opening assembly and it went really well. we then got into our routine and I was again on the bible study team. We left the school and got back to the lodge in time to go on a hunt. I'll tell that story another time. I just finished reading all of the wonderful letters that so many people wrote. I can't begin to express how touched I was and how blessed I know I am to be a part of such a wonderful church family. It is because of your love and support that I am able to be here right now.. Your prayer has meant more than I can say and I love you all very much!!! It's late and I'm really tired so I'll post more pictures tomorrow! Blessings to AllWhat a great day!! This morning we left the lodge at 6:00 and headed to the town of Nokoeane. We had an incredible time working with the students. We broke into three groups... We had a bible study group, a games group, and an archery group. I was in the bible study group and it really went well. I also got to do the sermonette to all of the students and that was a lot of fun!!
After lunch we went to an after school center they call a "Drop In". It's for kids 5 years old to 18. We played games, helped feed them a meal, played keepaway soccer and then had a short bible study. The meal was a local favorite. It was "Pap" which is basically a paste about the consistency of mashed potatoes made from whey. They also had one boiled chicken foot and they loved it!! Wen we left there it was back to the lodge for supper. It was a great day!! Tomorrow will pretty much be the same just at another school. Please continue to pray for our group that God will use us in a mighty way!! What an incredible day!!! We spent the morning doing some planning and then did a photo safari on the Shikwaru Lodge property. Then after lunch we did some more planning and then went to another place nearby to do another photo safari. After dinner we did more planning and now it's time for bed. I'm sorry Disney Animal Kingdom but you ain't got nothin on this place... Tomorrow we will be going to a local private school where we will be doing ministry. We will be doing centershot, bible study, and games. I will be opening our time by speaking to the entire assembly of about 900 high school students. The catch is that it's a Private Muslim school. What an opportunity to get to speak about Christ in a Muslim school. Please pray that God's word will touch many hearts!!! Can't wait to post tomorrow and let ya'll know how things went. Thanks for all the prayers!!It's been a really long trip but we've made it!!! We flew in to Johannesburg at about 4:30p.m. local time and then drove for 3 hours to get to Shikwaru Lodge. It is winter here so I'm enjoying nice cool weather. We had a great dinner and I can't wait to see what tomorrow holds! Sorry no pictures because it's been dark here since we arrived. Thanks for all the prayers for safe travel! Blessings to all and I'll post tomorrow evening.
I can't believe that this is actually about to happen!! I'm getting ready to go on one of the most exciting adventures of my life. Please pray for our group that we will really mesh well when we all meet and that we will really be effective as a ministry team.
I can't wait to get there and start blogging about all of the cool things that we will be doing. I hope that folks will feel free to leave comments of encouragement and prayer on this blog. So, the next time I sign on I'll be in S. Africa!!! |
